CU Buffs Football Notes: Healthy Travis Hunter Spectacular Again In

Hunter, a five-star recruit who transferred to Colorado from Florida State in the offseason, has been a revelation for the Buffaloes. He is one of the most athletic players in the country, and he has shown that he can make plays all over the field.

“Travis is a special player,” head coach Karl Dorrell said. “He’s got all the tools to be a great one.”

In the win over Arizona, Hunter had two tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery. He also had a 75-yard punt return for a touchdown, but it was called back due to a penalty.

“I’m just trying to do my part to help the team win,” Hunter said. “I’m glad I was able to make some plays today.”

The Buffaloes offense also had a great day, scoring 43 points. Quarterback J.T. Shrout threw for 313 yards and three touchdowns, and running back Deion Smith rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns.

“The offense was clicking today,” Dorrell said. “We were able to move the ball up and down the field.”

The Buffaloes defense had some trouble stopping the Arizona offense at times, but they made some big plays when they needed to. They forced three turnovers, including Hunter’s pick-six and fumble recovery.

“The defense played hard today,” Dorrell said. “They made some big plays when we needed them.”

The Buffaloes will host the TCU Horned Frogs next week in their Big 12 opener. The Horned Frogs are a tough opponent, but the Buffaloes are confident that they can win.

“We’re excited for the challenge,” Dorrell said. “We know TCU is a good team, but we’re confident that we can beat them.”
