Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has officially joined the Stanford Cardinal football coaching staff as a passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Luck announced his retirement from the NFL in 2019 after seven seasons due to persistent injuries.
Luck, who played at Stanford from 2009 to 2011, expressed his excitement about returning to his alma mater. “It’s a special place for me,” Luck said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to come back and give back to the university and the program that gave me so much.”
Stanford head coach David Shaw praised Luck’s hiring. “Andrew is a bright, young coach with a tremendous football mind,” Shaw said. “His experience as an elite quarterback will be invaluable to our players. We’re thrilled to have him join our staff.”
Luck’s focus as a coach will be on mentoring the Cardinal quarterbacks and developing their skills. “My goal is to help these young men reach their full potential both on and off the field,” Luck said. “I want to share my knowledge and experiences with them and help them become the best quarterbacks they can be.”
Luck’s addition to the coaching staff is expected to have a significant impact on the Stanford football program. His expertise as a quarterback and his knowledge of the game will elevate the skills of the Cardinal players.
Luck’s transition to coaching represents a new chapter in his life after a successful NFL career. As he embarks on this new challenge, he brings with him a wealth of experience and a passion for developing young athletes.
