Indianapolis, IN (July 30, 2023) – Anthony Hankerson became the third driver in history to win three consecutive Brickyard 400s, following in the footsteps of Dale Earnhardt Sr. (1994-1995) and Jeff Gordon (1998-2000).

A Dominant Performance

Hankerson led 109 of the race’s 160 laps, pulling away from the field for good on Lap 123. He held off a late charge from defending champion Kyle Larson to take the checkered flag.

“I didn’t know if we had a car to win, but I knew we had a car to run in the top five,” Hankerson said. “It’s an incredible feeling to win here three times in a row.”

A History-Making Achievement

Hankerson’s victory was his third of the season, moving him to the top of the NASCAR Cup Series standings. He now has 15 career wins, making him one of the most successful drivers of his generation.

“Anthony is a special talent,” said team owner Rick Hendrick. “He has the heart of a champion, and he never gives up.”

Looking Ahead

Hankerson’s win at the Brickyard 400 will give him a huge boost in the championship race. He is now the favorite to win the Cup Series title for the first time in his career.

“I’m not going to get ahead of myself, but this is a big win,” Hankerson said. “We’re in a great position now, and I’m excited for the rest of the season.”

Hankerson will next compete in the upcoming race at Pocono Raceway on August 6.
