The game, which will be held at McDonough Arena, is expected to be a close and competitive affair. Lehigh enters the matchup on a four-game winning streak, while Georgetown has won three of its last four.
“Georgetown is a well-coached team with a lot of talent,” said Lehigh head coach Brett Reed. “They’re going to be a tough opponent, but we’re confident that we can go into their gym and get a win.”
Georgetown head coach Patrick Ewing echoed Reed’s sentiments, saying, “Lehigh is a very good team. They’re well-balanced and they play hard. We’re going to have to be at our best to beat them.”
The game is significant for both teams as it could have major implications for the Patriot League standings. Lehigh currently sits in first place in the league, while Georgetown is in second place. A win for either team would give them a leg up in the race for the regular season title.
The game will be televised on ESPN+ and can be heard on the Lehigh Sports Network.
The Patriot League is a 10-team conference that includes schools from the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Lehigh and Georgetown are two of the most successful teams in the conference, with Lehigh winning the regular season title in 2020 and 2022, and Georgetown winning the title in 2021.
The winner of Saturday’s game will be in a strong position to win the Patriot League regular season title and earn the No. 1 seed in the Patriot League Tournament. The winner will also have a good chance of earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
