TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Luke Kromenhoek threw for three touchdowns as No. 25 Florida State snapped its six-game losing streak with a 35-27 victory over North Carolina State on Saturday.
Kromenhoek completed 17 of 28 passes for 215 yards, finding Ja’Khi Douglas for two touchdowns and Markeston Douglas for one. Travis Jay added 132 rushing yards for the Seminoles (6-6, 4-4 ACC).
“Luke played a great game,” said Florida State head coach Mike Norvell. “He was poised, made good decisions, and delivered the ball accurately. It was a big step forward for him.”
North Carolina State (6-6, 3-5) led 17-14 at halftime but could not keep up with Florida State’s offense in the second half. Devin Leary threw for 374 yards and two touchdowns for the Wolfpack, but he also threw two interceptions.
“We didn’t get the job done today,” said North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren. “We had our chances, but we made too many mistakes. We need to learn from this and move forward.”
The victory was significant for Florida State, which had not won since Sept. 24. It also clinched the Seminoles a bowl game berth.
“It feels great to get this win,” said Kromenhoek. “We’ve been working hard all year, and it’s nice to finally see it pay off. We’re excited to go to a bowl game and keep improving.”
Florida State will close out its regular season next Saturday at Florida (6-6, 3-5). North Carolina State will host Wake Forest (8-4, 6-2) on Friday.
