
### Tragedy Strikes: Alabama A&M Linebacker Medrick Burnett Jr. Dies from Head Injury
During the Bulldogs’ game against Samford University on Saturday, October 8th, Burnett collided with an opposing player. He was immediately removed from the field and transported to the hospital, where he underwent surgery to relieve pressure on his brain.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Burnett remained on life support until succumbing to his injuries on Tuesday, October 11th. The medical team at Huntsville Hospital stated that the severity of the injury was insurmountable.
Alabama A&M University President Andrew Hugine Jr. expressed the university’s profound sorrow in a statement: “The entire Alabama A&M family is heartbroken by this tragic loss. Medrick was a beloved member of our team and a shining example of our values.”
Head coach Connell Maynor added, “Medrick was an exceptional young man, both on and off the field. His loss will be deeply felt by our community.”
