Nebraska Cornhuskers Volleyball Completes Perfect Weekend With Wisconsin Sweep

“I’m really proud of this team and the way they played this weekend,” said Head Coach John Cook. “We knew Wisconsin was going to be a tough opponent, but we were able to execute our game plan and come away with a big win.”

The Huskers were led by a balanced offensive attack, with five players recording at least seven kills. Junior Madi Kubik led the way with 13 kills, while sophomore Whitney Lauenstein added 11 kills. Senior Lexi Sun also contributed with 10 kills.

Defensively, Nebraska was equally impressive. The Huskers held Wisconsin to just a .129 hitting percentage, and they recorded 10 blocks as a team. Senior middle blocker Lauren Stivrins led the way with six blocks, while junior libero Kenzie Knuckles finished with 15 digs.

The victory over Wisconsin was Nebraska’s second consecutive sweep of a ranked opponent. The Huskers had previously defeated No. 13 Purdue in straight sets on Friday night.

“This weekend was a great test for us,” said Kubik. “We were able to show that we can compete with anyone in the country.”

The Huskers will return to action on Wednesday night when they host Iowa State at the Devaney Center.
